Hello Families, This week we fancied up our books to prepare for our bookstore!  We learned how to make our books even better by re-reading our words closely and revising using special colored pens.  We added punctuation, uppercase letters, more sentences, and crossed out things we want to change. We also colored and added covers to our books. Our Piggie and Elephant journal was started by Aviv and Boaz last weekend and will be continued by Brandon and Asher this weekend.  We all enjoyed hearing their adventures they had and were impressed by how hard they worked on their writing!...

Hello Families, We have been exploring kindness through discussion and reading stories that emphasize different ways to be kind (patience, thinking of others’ needs, inclusion, standing up against wrongdoing, remembering manners, service projects, etc.) as we celebrate kindness week.  We have been so ambitious with our activities, we have to extend it to next week! Every time someone notices someone else being kind, they write it on a link that we add to our kindness chain on each kindergarten door in the hallway. Our goal is to connect the chains by this Tuesday! In math, we have used different tools...

Hello Families, Both kindergarten groups have started to become cohesive units as we ease back into kindergarten routines and begin new relationships while strengthening old ones.  Everyone was really excited to have a new combination of new kids in their group. We worked on the challenge of approaching different students to play and work. In reading we have launched our Super Readers unit where we discover our super powers in reading!  So far we have discovered our pointer power (1 to 1 correspondence), picture power (looking at details in the picture before reading words), sound power (using the first letter...

Hello Families, We really enjoyed spending time with you at our Hanukkah celebration! This past week, we culminated our 5 senses unit with an exploration of fruit!  In past lessons, we identified the 5 senses and body parts used to discover different senses. Then we came up with adjectives for each sense.  This week, we wrote and drew our observations of 5 different types of fruit.  Then we tasted many types of fruit together and recorded describing words of how they tasted.  After tasting, we figured out what our favorite fruit was and graphed the results. Pineapple won! We also...
