The Caribbean

Social Studies To kick off our new unit, we participated in Caribbean station exploration! In one station the second graders tasted fruits that are native to the Caribbean, like ugli fruit, fried plantains, mango, and coconut! In this station we also explored a big map, where we matched the flags to the Caribbean countries we could find. We discussed the symbolism for the colors and patterns of some of the Caribbean flags, and began asking questions about the climate and location. 6th Grade News: 3/12 – 3/16/18

HUMANITIES It was so nice talking with most of you this week at parent-teacher conferences, and I look forward to speaking with the rest of you next week. In History class, students took a final test on ancient Egypt. Studying for this test was an important learning experience, as students tried out and shared different study strategies and figured out which worked best for them. 5th Grade Week of 3/12

March 12 – March 16

Math 7X this week solved simple linear inequalities, such as ax + b > c, compared the solutions of inequalities with different inequality signs such as x > 3 and x ≥ 3, and represented the solution of a linear inequality on a number line. The unit test is currently scheduled for Thursday, March 22nd. 7Y this week found the area of a parallelogram and trapezoid, and solved problems involving perimeters and areas of composite plane figures. Hebrew This week, the students practiced writing a flowing paragraph in Hebrew by writing a paragraph in the future tense about what they will do when they reach their special place one day. Hello Fourth Grade Families! It’s an intense time of year for us at Hannah Senesh. Pesach is fast approaching, Daylight Savings Time has kicked in, and Parent Teacher Conferences are in full swing. First Grade News: Week of March 12th

Thank you to everyone who brought in books for Malawi! This week we learned more about Malawi and saw pictures of the library that our books will be donated to. We wrote a letter to the children who will receive our books.   Our classroom neighborhood is almost complete! This week first graders painted their structures, decided where they should go in the neighborhood, and added details such as stop signs and trains. Music, art and puppets!

Dear Kindergarten Families, We had lots of fun this week in Kindergarten! It was great to speak with all of you during conferences! We also talked about using kind words and being careful not to hurt others with our words. In Math, we began learning about Time.
