Schnitzi restaurant, science exploration and much more!

Dear Kindergarten Families, We had a week full of learning and fun activities. We had so much fun visiting Yahli’s family’s restaurant and learning all about those who work there! In Math, we continued our unit on Subtraction. We practiced making a number sentence out of a “how many more?” problem. We learned how to look at pictures of items and compare which one has more and write a number sentence to describe the problem. We also learned how to solve simple subtraction problems. Humanities: In Humanities this week, we continued our Book Club Units, and discussed important characters, settings, and events at the beginning of our various texts. We continued our China Museum Projects in Social Studies, and took a much needed break after ERB’s. Plants, Landforms, Chumash Practice, and Weaving

Chumash We are busy preparing for the Chumash Play next Thursday. Students have been memorizing lines and working on four songs and dances. This week we used the stage for the first time, and learned how to stand on stage and project. There is so much to prepare and remember as we get ready for next week’s performance, and the students are working super hard and helping each other. Kesher Day and Lag Ba’omer

Kesher Day General Studies Activity For Kesher day in the general studies class we began by talking about a growth mindset and how we can help ourselves when we are having strong feelings. We read the book Beautiful Oops by Barney Saltzberg, a story about all the different mistakes that can happen on a piece of paper like tears, holes, spills, and stains, and different ways to fix them. Special Visitors and Finishing the Aleph-Bet

Israel: Visitors from Eight Grade Second graders have been following the adventuresses of the eighth graders in Israel through their blog and pictures for the past two weeks. Now that the eight graders are backed, we invited a few to visit our class so that we could hear more in person and ask them our questions. Dear Third Grade Families, Another week has gone by, and there’s still so much to learn and do before June! We have rescheduled our Brooklyn Bridge trips for May (which are listed towards the bottom of this section), which is very exciting, and we are also headed to Ellis Island at the end of the month. Shabbat: Friday 4/20 – Saturday 4/21

Hi Everyone! It’s been a busy and wonderful two days — the 8th graders visited Shuk haCarmel and Nachalat Binyamin in Tel Aviv, and then headed north, stopping at the Arab-Israeli coexistence village of Shefa-Amr. Shabbat on the Kinneret today was lovely and restful, and included a visit to a water park at the hotel next door! At the end of Shabbat, the group went to Tiberias for a disco boat cruise and a fun night out. Day 6, Monday, 4/16 – blog post from Chaya and Maia

Hello! Today we woke up bright and early at 4:00 a.m. We then hiked up the Roman ramp to Masada and watched the sun rise as we prayed. We also got a very interesting tour of the mountain fortress. After that we took a cable car down the mountain and ate breakfast. Then, we drove all the way to Eilat and went snorkeling and banana boating in the Red Sea.
