Fourth Grade Blog 1/22

Math with Justin Our Fourth Graders are wrapping up their unit on fractions. Students have learned how about mixed numbers and improper fractions and how to convert between the two. They have learned how to add, subtract and multiply fractions with like-denominators. They have also been working on simplifying fractions and solving fraction word problems. Third Grade 1/22

Community Building As new pod groups we have been playing new games, reading stories, and getting to know each other better.  We even made fresh classroom rules to set the expectations for what we each need in order to be in a safe and joyful learning environment. We shared what the classroom should look like, feel like, and sound like, and how we can each support the class in having a positive learning experience. First Grade News

Hello Families, In Hebrew this week, we learned the letters tzadik and tzadik sofit and we kept practicing our reading and writing. We read the book “Maddi’s Fridge” and had a conversation about the importance of helping other people in need. In Tefilah, we continued working on our siddurim and learned a new prayer from the amida called mevarech hashanim. We spoke about the importance of taking care of our Earth and what can we do to keep it a clean and safe place. Kindergarten Blog 1/22/21

Dear Kindergarten Families, Welcome back, and Happy New Year! Kids and teachers were so happy to see each other back in person this week! In math, we are beginning to work with number sentences. Number sentences are similar to addition, but we talk about them in different ways, so that we can better make friends with numbers. This week, kids wrote sentences like: “2 and 3 is 5.” and “2 and 6 make 8.” We learn different strategies to pair numbers together and find out what they make.
