Advisory:  Dear parents, This week in advisory we did a short meditation about dealing with anger. Next, the students will put on short skits about social situations in middle school. Hebrew: Dear parents, This week  HaKbatza Aleph learned the structure KEDAY and LO KEDAY- it’s a good idea, it’s not a good idea/ it’s worth it, it’s not worth it. the students read various texts on this topic and used verbally and in writing.  HaKbatza Bet finished the unit on trips and places in Israel and continued to practice Compound Nouns. Advisory Dear parents, This week in advisory, the students reflected on the things that we can choose in life and the things we can’t. What are our needs and how can we adjust our choices in the way we talk and listen in order to meet our and other people’s needs. Advisory: This week in advisory we practiced the meditation technique of Body Scan. Next, we asked the students to reflect on various life situations. What do they think/ feel and how do they react? Advisory:  Dear parents, This week in advisory we discussed the way we feel or react to various situations in middle school as part of encouraging awareness and self-monitoring skills. Advisory: This week in advisory we explored our breath. We practiced deep breathing vs. shallow breathing and we discussed breathing as an anchor in meditation. Week 9: Monday, October 30th – Friday, November 3rd

Advisory:  This week in advisory, students learned about mindful bodies- still and calm and mindful listening. Next, we discussed what are the behavioral expectations from 8th graders, and then the students shared their thoughts on the tragic events in Tribecca. Advisory We are excited to let you know that this week we started a mindfulness program in advisory. The program is comprised of once a week meetings. The Program Goals: Provide students with the tools to create a space between stimulus and response and manage high school process more effectively. Help students to distinguish between reality and their own thoughts and foster an ability to observe and label their own thoughts without judgment. Weeks 5, 6, and 7: October 2nd – October 20th

Advisory We have been using advisory to help students prepare for the high school placement process, specifically how to handle themselves in an interview setting.  Students worked in pairs and small groups simulating interview questions and responds. Advisory: This week in advisory, the 8th graders once again stepped up as leaders of the school community.
