ADVISORY  Dear parents, We are excited to let you know that this week we started a mindfulness program in advisory. The program is comprised of once a week meetings. What a Week!

Hello 5th Grade Community! We are very excited to share our updates with you. Our students engaged in engaging and rigorous academic work, and started Mindfulness during Advisory periods this week. We hope this curriculum helps our students become more mindful, reflective, and relaxed as the year progresses. We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! HUMANITIES: In Reading, our students continued to read Wonder, and explored what it means to have different narrators across  a text. In Writing, students began researching for their Research-Based Argument Essays, exploring issues such as LGBTQ rights, police-civilian relationships, and the effects of climate change on our planet....

Social Studies, Buddies, and More!

Social Studies We had a blast with our first social studies lesson! We explored three different kinds of communities: urban, suburban, and rural. We read the book Town Mouse, Country Mouse by Jan Brett and noticed how the story and beautiful illustrations gave us clues into the character traits and differences between the town mouse and country mouse. While we listened to the story we listed the differences between the lifestyles and appearance of each mouse, and we noticed that the Town Mouse wore bright and colorful clothes while the Country Mouse wore simple clothes in dull colors so not...

It’s Finally Starting to Feel Like Fall!

Dear Third Grade Families, Can you believe October has already passed? With the changing of the weather, we’ve had a few everyday changes as well. Third Graders received new lunch tables this week and will be getting new desk spots once November begins. In writing, our personal narratives are coming to a close! We have tried our hand at writing concluding sentences that are either: – using juicy language – show action – cliff hangers – filled with dialogue – asking a question and more! October 23rd – 27th

Judaic Studies 7th graders used the Tanach to figure out how the Israelite camp was set up in the wilderness. Students came up with theories: why is the camp organized in this way? What does the architecture of the space communicate to this nation of former slaves? 7th graders shared many wonderful, thoughtful theories about the placement of the tribes and why the mishkan (tabernacle) is at the center of the camp. Healthy Nutrition, Letter F, Creation and more!

Dear Families, We had a great week in kindergarten! In Math, we were working on ordering numbers from 0-10, learning the words one less, one more, and the same. We used our ten frames to help us practice solving problems with one more and one less. We are almost finished with our first Math workbooks! In English Language Arts, we learned the letter F and the sound /f/ it makes. We practiced forming upper and lowercase letters Ff using our Handwriting Without Tears books, wooden planks, shaving cream, and finding words that start with F and drawing pictures of them....

First Grade: Week of October 23rd

First graders published their first stories this week! They each chose their favorite small moment story to revise, edit and, finally, publish. On Thursday we had a mini publishing party to celebrate all of their hard work! Their published stories are now in our own classroom library.   First grade mathematicians worked on subtractions strategies this week. They learned how count up, count back, and use their knowledge of number bonds to subtract.   We started reading groups this week. Hello Fourth Grade Families! We hope that you have been enjoying the return to routine! Fourth graders have had a great week of working, learning, and playing.
