6th Grade News 12/11/20

Advisory We are grateful that in recent weeks, our advisory time has given us the opportunity to participate in community service. As you may know, our school is holding a PPE drive in order to collect much-needed safety and cleaning supplies for the Brooklyn Landmark School. Last week, 6th graders created multi-media advertisements for the younger students encouraging them to donate supplies. HUMANITIES 7th grade is finishing out the semester in a strong way. The students finished our unit on slavery by analyzing primary and secondary sources and responding thoughtfully to the documents. Students continue working hard on their analytical Animal Farm essays as well as their independent reading projects. Happy Hanukkah from the 8th Grade!

Happy Hanukkah! Humanities Students are finishing their Crucible projects and looking forward to their showcase with parents and family on Tuesday, December 15 at 1PM. Join us on zoom for this wonderful display of the students’ performances or creative projects tied to their reading of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible. In our study, students have explored dynamic and static characters and tracked their development over the course of the play. Additionally, on Tuesday, students had their second meeting with Jewish elders from around America. What’s Happening in 5th- 12/11/20

Humanities: We look forward to presenting our latest work to you at our upcoming publishing event on December 17 at 1:00. The fifth graders have been hard at work researching one characteristic of civilization and how that characteristic manifested in Sumer. The students first took notes using a variety of sources and then reviewed their notes and organized them into categories that would translate to body paragraphs in a research essay. Next, they learned how to write an introductory paragraph by hooking the reader with interesting information and creating a thesis statement.
