Week 9: Monday, October 30th – Friday, November 3rd

Advisory:  This week in advisory, students learned about mindful bodies- still and calm and mindful listening. Next, we discussed what are the behavioral expectations from 8th graders, and then the students shared their thoughts on the tragic events in Tribecca. Advisory We are excited to let you know that this week we started a mindfulness program in advisory. The program is comprised of once a week meetings. The Program Goals: Provide students with the tools to create a space between stimulus and response and manage high school process more effectively. Help students to distinguish between reality and their own thoughts and foster an ability to observe and label their own thoughts without judgment. Weeks 5, 6, and 7: October 2nd – October 20th

Advisory We have been using advisory to help students prepare for the high school placement process, specifically how to handle themselves in an interview setting.  Students worked in pairs and small groups simulating interview questions and responds. Weeks 3 and 4: Monday, September 18th – Thursday, September 28th

Advisory: This week in advisory, the 8th graders once again stepped up as leaders of the school community. Advisory:  This week in advisory, the eighth graders prepared to perform at the first tekes of the year.  Their songs and raps about each of their nine years as members of the Hannah Senesh community was a whirlwind journey filled with warmth and humor.  It certainly set the tone of a year of full of fun and engaging leadership.   Art: Eighth grade students began the year with color theory. Humanities: Hi everybody.  I am tremendously excited to being joining the Hannah Senesh Community this year and am truly looking forward to teaching this year’s eighth grade class! It is my mission to ensure that this year’s Humanities classes will be exciting, challenging, and meaningful for all students.
