Humanities with Hilary Dear 4th Grade Families, I cannot believe that this crew has finished their first piece of writing! We have been working hard since the end of September on this piece. We have made sure to include characters, who have dialogue with others as well as internal thinking. 3rd Grade: 10/29

Reading: We continued using Stone Fox to strengthen our reading skills. We worked on making predictions and furthering our predictions by saying HOW something might happen, not just WHAT. We practiced retelling the story, taking big steps to mention the important parts of the story. Towards the end, we noticed that the text leads us to ask questions. Questions about what happens in the story (Why did Grandfather not tell little Willy what to do about the farm?) and questions about why the author made certain choices (Why did the author title the book Stone Fox?) 10/29 Kindergarten Blog

Dear Kindergarten Families,   This week in our Morning Meetings, students paired up with someone new each day to share something about ourselves, and then shared to the group what our partners said. The children are getting to know everyone and working on their listening skills! We introduced a tricky new song called “Dreams of Harmony,” where we sing “Goodnight” in many different languages. We also learned “You Are My Sunshine.” The big news of the week is that we have student jobs! First Grade News

Dear Families, In Hebrew, we learned the letters yud, lamed and hey. We added lots of new words to our word wall like, yam (sea), yad (hand), lechem (bread), lev (heart), lashon (tongue) and har (mountain) and our vocabulary just keeps growing. We continued to practice our reading and writing with all the letters and vowels that we have learned so far. In Yahadut, we learned about the amidah prayer.
