Welcome to Third Grade!

Dear Third Grade Families,

We hope you had a wonderful summer! Welcome to an exciting year of learning in third grade!

The first day of school is fast approaching and we are busy preparing the classrooms. This year, the third grade team includes a cohesive group of returning teachers.  Shannon Berkowsky (General Studies Teacher), Justin Schwaber (3rd and 4th Grade Math), Rimma Berenshtein (3rd and 4th Grade Hebrew), Shira Becher (3rd and 4th Grade Judaic Studies), and Sammi Butwin (3rd and 4th Grade Science and Technology) are excited to continue their work in third grade, and integrating curriculum and community with the whole team.

We are responsible for the dismissal of your children and will be maintaining dismissal lists for your child’s class. Please send all communication regarding dismissal to the entire team the day before. For last-minute and urgent changes, please send communication by 12:00 pm on the day of in order to receive a confirmation email from the teachers. Teachers will be checking email at this time and creating the day’s final dismissal list. We appreciate your mindfulness, as we are not always on email throughout the day. Thank you for your help and partnership.

Items to make sure your child packs each day (or stays in the locker throughout the week):

• Sweater/Sweatshirt
• Labeled water bottle
• Snack and Lunch (dairy or vegetarian only) – Snack is at 10:15am each day, so please make sure your child eats a hearty breakfast
• Extra mask, just in case

Schedule Notes:

• 3rd graders have PE on Monday and Tuesday, so please make sure your child wears sneakers on those days.

• Back to School Night on Monday, September 19th at 5:00pm
