September 2, 2022 — Welcome Back!

Dear 4th Grade Families,

Can you believe that school starts back up on Wednesday? The summer has flown by! The 4th Grade Team cannot wait to welcome your child into our classes.

“Who is in this team?” you might be asking. Our academic teachers are:

Our team also includes:

You can reach us, as a whole team, at 4thgradeteam@hannahsenesh.org

We write and publish classroom blogs approximately every other week. Please read them to help you investigate the world of a 4th Grade classroom. You will be learning more during our Back to School Night on Monday, September 19 from 5-6 pm.

Here is a list of items that will be helpful for your student to have every day:

  • A snack
    • lunch is later in the day, so make sure your student also has a hearty breakfast before coming to school
  • A labeled water bottle
  • A lunchbox

Items students can keep in their lockers

  • [extra] mask/masks
  • Sweatshirt or sweater (the rooms can get cold)

Here are the daily specials students have each day. A reminder that students need sneakers for PE, and it would be helpful to wear “clothing that can get messy” on days we have Art

    • Monday – PE
    • Tuesday – PE, Art
    • Wednesday – STEAM, Music
    • Thursday – STEAM

We have some important dates for you to know about this month:

    • Tuesday, September 6: New Student Orientation
      • New 4th grade families are welcome to visit our classroom (rooms 114, 117, and 118) from 9:00-9:30 am
    • Wednesday, September 7: First Day of School
      • Arrival @ 8:15 am
      • Dismissal @ 3:30 pm
    • Monday, September 19: Back to School Night
      • Lower School parents have classroom visits from 5:00-6:00 pm

    • Thursday, September 29, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm: FIRST FIELD TRIP to Ellis Island!

During this first month of school, students will reflect on identity in terms of what that means in themselves and inside of our classroom community. Please start thinking about:

  • Where your family comes from (we will be writing down the birthplaces/countries of the student, and their parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents)
  • A family member or family friend who immigrated to the United States, and could be interviewed
  • If you are interested in chaperoning our first field trip (a google form will go out in a week or two about this)

Again, we cannot wait for your students to return to Senesh and join the 4th Grade Community!

Until next time,

The 4th Grade Team
