First Week

Hello Families,

We have had a whirlwind of activity this week as we settle into Kindergarten. We are getting to know one another and becoming more comfortable sharing about ourselves during morning meetings.
We have sung songs, read poems and morning messages, and played games to become familiar with our classroom and friends.

Students are now confidently choosing and caring for books, independently cleaning up and moving to the next activity, and reminding visiting adults not to play in the hallway and bathroom!

As we slowly and steadily build our community, we discussed, explored, and shared about new tools in our classrooms. Students have shown extraordinary kindness and patience with friends through sharing and giving help others.

We kicked off our phonics unit (making friends with letters) by meeting Mabel, our class elephant who helps us learn new letters, words, and sounds. We cheered and built out her name and then searched for “M” objects in the classroom. Soon we will study everyone’s name in kindergarten!

A favorite read aloud this week was “Leo the Late Bloomer”. We shared how we have been late bloomers when learning to tie shoes, ride a bike, button shirts, and tie knots. We also realized we are still learning many of these skills and will continue to in kindergarten!
Memorable quote of the week (during morning meeting 2nd day) “How come we didn’t learn how to write yesterday?” !!!!!

Have a good weekend,
Liz and Talia

Hello Kindergarten Families,

This week we learned the words אני ( I ) and טוב בוקר (Good morning )–all in Hebrew!
We started learning about the weather and Tefillah.
Practice those vocabulary words at home with your children.

Shabbat shalom!
