First Week

Hello Families, We have had a whirlwind of activity this week as we settle into Kindergarten. We are getting to know one another and becoming more comfortable sharing about ourselves during morning meetings. We have sung songs, read poems and morning messages, and played games to become familiar with our classroom and friends. Students are now confidently choosing and caring for books, independently cleaning up and moving to the next activity, and reminding visiting adults not to play in the hallway and bathroom! 6th Grade First Week of School 9/6/19

ADVISORY It’s been a busy first week in sixth grade! Because we have ten new students in the grade, we have really focused on our sixth grade community these first few days. First, we created re-wearable name tags with our names and special symbols, and we’ve been encouraging the students to wear their name tags each day. We also created a peer buddy system, so that each new student is paired with a returning student. Judaic Studies It’s been a pleasure getting to know the 7th graders this week! We began by exploring one of our major school values: מסע/Journey. This is a key value for us this year, because will be studying the book of במדבר/Numbers, which details the journeys of Bnai Yisrael on their way to Israel. This brought up a kushiya/question for us: If God is all-powerful, why doesn’t God just magically put all of Bnai Yisrael in Israel? Why do they need to travel through the wilderness?
