5th Grade Week of 3/5

What a week! Please enjoy the class updates below, and have a good weekend!

HUMANITIES: Another wonderful week in Humanities! Students finished their exceptional Tuck Everlasting essays, and were able to design their own extra credit assignments. I’m so proud of how much their writing has improved this year! In Social Studies, we studied the Great Wall, the Ballad of Mulan (the same Mulan!), and some of the other distinct cultural features that China has to offer! Shabbat Shalom!-Tony

JUDAICS: This week we had a great time learning with Dammara about Joseph’s brothers coming to Egypt to get grain during the famine. Students translated in chevruta and learned new Biblical grammar. It was so nice to see how the class welcomed Dammara into our community. We had many fun activities like acting and drawing in order to get into the mindset of our characters. Shabbat Shalom- Laura

MATH: 5th graders successfully completed their unit test and started a new unit, “Perimeter, Area and Surface Area.” They learned to find the area of a figure in square units this week!-Kelly

HEBREW:

K group
This week the K group read the biography of Adam Sandler. They analyzed the text learning new vocabulary and verbs. With the vocabulary they learned students started a short project their assignment was to choose an artist of their choice do research about him or her and write a biography about them using the vocabulary we learned.
J group
This week the J group strengthened conjugating verbs from past to present and to infinitive using all forms of roots ( regular and irregular ). In addition, students started a short project, their assignment was to write short skits using the vocabulary we strengthened and to film their skits.-Yehuda

SCIENCE: Students finished with their custom devices with “Little Bits”. Groups designed a baseball stadium, robot soldiers, figure skater, and an emoji that changed from happy face to cool face. As we wrap up this unit students are taking away great memories, a pride of their engineering techniques and a new sense of accomplishment with their collaborative groups.-Mike
ADVISORY: In Advisory this week, students wrapped up their Mindfulness projects, continued their Organization unit, and finished off the week by doing a fun drawing activity in order to build communication skills.
