Hebrew

This week students summarized our unit about smartphones and technology by coming up with ideas for creating an app that would help society or the environment. We also started out new unit “Only in Israel”, we spoke about some Israeli inventions as well as behavior and manners you would only see in Israel.

Judaic Studies

This week we looked at mishnayot about one of the mitzvot of Purim — hearing the megillah. What is the essence of this mitzvah? What matters more, understanding the story or hearing it in Hebrew? Would it be better for Hannah Senesh to do our megillah reading in English? Through small group discussion and reflective writing, students explored the value of Hebrew as the language of the Jewish people.

Shabbat shalom!

Math

I hope everyone had a wonderful February break!

7X have been working on a new unit, “Coordinates and Linear Graphs.” Apart from taking a test for this unit, they are working to complete a set of challenging problems, which is due on Tuesday, March 6th.

7Y finished a unit on “Inequalities” and took a test today. Starting next week, they will begin learning “Perimeters and Areas of Plane Figures.” They will learn to solve problems involving perimeters and areas of squares, rectangles, and triangles, find the circumference and area of a circle, find the areas of parallelograms and trapezoids, and solve problems involving perimeters and areas of composite plane figures.
