HUMANITIES

7th graders are tackling intense subject matter in both Social Studies and English Language Arts. We started reading Chains, a historical fiction novel from the perspective of an enslaved girl set in New York City during the American Revolution. While reading Chains in ELA, we are continuing our study of Early America, focusing on the Atlantic Slave Trade. In both classes, we are focusing on the theme of freedom and what it means to be free. Ask your seventh graders when they feel most free; they have a lot of interesting ideas to share!

MATH

While adjusting to some of the recent changes to math class, the 7th grade has stayed on track working on ratios and proportionality. They’ve begun analyzing equations, comparing proportional relationships, and applying proportional reasoning. We are both enjoying getting to know these 7th graders as math students!

The 7th graders explore places and culture in Israel such as the בימה, שרונה, and other places. Using שם הפועל and פועל they had to create their own advertisements and present them. Projects such as these make them work first in reading then converse among themselves, write and talk about the place that they chose.

להורים שלום,

אנחנו עובדים על יחידה בשם ״זכויות הילד״ כאשר התלמידים נחשפים לשלבים שעברו מהגיית הרעיון עד שנוסחה אמנה בינלאומית על ידי מרבית מחברות באומות המאוחדות ב – 20 בנובמבר 1989! בתהליך זה נחשפים התלמידים למצבם של ילדים בתקופת המפכה התעשייתית, דרך האמנה של יאנוש קורצ’אק וספריו על חשיבות עולמו של הילד עד לימינו. התלמידים לומדים מושגים חדשים המאפיינים תקופות שונות בתהליך כמו כן חוזרים על מילות ניגוד והשוואה על מנת שיוכלו בתום הסקירה לעמוד על שינוי שערכה החברה המודרנית כלפי מצב הילדים.
