Hello 4th Grade Families!

General Studies with Mike

After several weeks of test preparation, students spent the early portion of the week completing this year’s ERB. Students expressed a variety of emotions before and during the exam – nervousness of the unknown, surprise at how simple some of the questions seemed, frustration at the more challenging questions, and relief when it was all over.

Lag B’Omer came as a great celebration to the end of testing. While the rain kept us indoors for the bulk of the day, many students proclaimed this to be the most fun they’ve ever had at school! It was wonderful to see the students display sportsmanship during the healthy competitions.

The school week was anything but typical leading up to this long Memorial Day weekend! I hope everyone has a nice mini break!

Judaics with Aliza

In Judaic Studies, fourth graders finished their Ancient Israel timeline this week when we learned about the transition from Temple-centric to Rabbinic Judaism after the destruction of the Second Temple in Jerusalem in 70 CE. We also learned about the Bar Kokhba Revolt of 135 CE, which still stands today as a symbol of both inspiration and tragedy for the Jewish people. This coming week, we will finish our Chumash curriculum as well before we turn to our final unit of the year: Megillat Ruth/Shavuot. Have a Shabbat Shalom and a great, meaningful Memorial Day weekend!

Hebrew with Ilana S. and Tomer

This week the 4th grade were busy learning the Hebrew songs for Israel America songs. They practiced the words and the dances. Attached the links for the songs. Please have your child practice them.
