Day 9, Thursday, April 19th: Yom haAtzmaut blog post from Max and Ela

Today we had a late wake up in the Dvora Hotel in Tel Aviv. We headed down to a yummy Israeli breakfast. Afterwards, we walked to the beach and did a short tefillah and enjoyed the beginning of the Israeli air force air show. We had tons of fun at a martial arts lesson where we learned to defend ourselves. Then we got to cool off in the clear, blue sea of Tel Aviv. We sat on the warm sand and watched more planes go twirling and spinning in the air. After that, we headed over to a park to eat a delicious Yom Ha-atmzaut barbeque lunch. Once we were all full with hot-dogs, hamburgers, and chicken kebabs, we headed back to the beach for surfing lessons. We learned how to stand up and ride the waves almost all by ourselves! After a long day at the beach, we headed home to the hotel. Next we’re off to a pizur dinner on Dizengoff street. We’ll watch a light show to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the state that many call home. Then we’ll go back to the hotel for our last night in Tel Aviv.

Party on party people!
