Welcome to Third Grade!

Dear Third Grade Families,

We hope you had a wonderful summer! Welcome to an exciting year of learning in third grade!

The first day of school is fast approaching and we are busy preparing the classrooms. This year, the third grade team includes both new and returning teachers.  New to the staff is Shannon Berkowsky (General Studies Teacher) who is thrilled to be joining the Senesh community. Justin Schwaber (3rd and 4th Grade Math), Rimma Berenshtein (3rd and 4th Grade Hebrew), Shira Becher (3rd and 4th Grade Judaic Studies),and Tomer Yanay (Hebrew Associate Teacher) are excited to continue their work in third grade, and integrating curriculum and community with the whole team. As well, Sammi Butwin will be rejoining us as the 3rd-4th Grade Science and Technology teacher!

We are responsible for the dismissal of your children and will be maintaining dismissal lists for your child’s class. Please send all communication regarding dismissal to the entire team the day before. For last-minute and urgent changes, please send communication by 12:00 pm on the day of in order to receive a confirmation email from the teachers. Teachers will be checking email at this time and creating the day’s final dismissal list. We appreciate your mindfulness, as we are not always on email throughout the day. Thank you for your help and partnership.

Items to make sure your child packs each day (or stays in the locker throughout the week):

• Sweater/Sweatshirt: We will be keeping the windows open so it may get chilly in the classroom
• Labeled water bottle
• Snack and Lunch (dairy or vegetarian only)
• Chromebook

We would love to find out more about your child before we begin the school year. Please take a moment and send an email to the third grade team answering some or all of the questions below:

2. How did your child spend the summer?
3. What is one goal you have for your child in third grade, be it academic or social?  
4. What is your child’s Hebrew name? 
5. How does your child get home in the afternoon? (ie: bus, late room, after school, pick up)
6. Is there anything else you’d like to share about your child?
