Welcome 7th Graders!

Humanities

Hello! My name is Allison Corvo, and I’ll be teaching 7th grade Humanities at Hannah Senesh this year. I can’t wait to meet the 7th grade class. For the first day, students should come to school prepared with a small, daily planner that can be used to keep track of items for all your classes. Organization is really important and will contribute to your success this year.

This year in Humanities we will be covering a range of topics in history, literature, and writing. We’ll be starting off with ancient Rome, our summer reading book The Outsiders, and some new vocabulary words.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me at the school or through email: acorvo@hannahsenesh.org

Enjoy the last few days of summer!

Allison

!ברוכים הבאים

Welcome! I am looking forward to a wonderful year of learning with the 7th grade. We will be exploring ספר במדבר/the book of Numbers and thinking about what it takes to turn a group of whiny, dependent, immature slaves into a self-sufficient, courageous, and mature nation. Does our past determine our future? Can we choose to become more mature? How should a society balance the needs of individuals with the needs of the group? Students will also look at laws and ethical dilemmas in rabbinic texts, and will get a chance to develop and articulate their thinking through debate, art projects, technology, and reflective writing. I can’t wait!

Please be in touch with questions, concerns, and ideas at jlissy@hannahsenesh.org

Hello everyone! I am so excited to join the Hannah Senesh community as your Middle School science teacher. I have been involved with middle school science for over a decade. I cannot wait to extend my passion for an array of science topics with your child as we explore hands on projects and activities. I hope everyone had a great summer. I am looking forward with great anticipation to a fabulous year of hands on learning in science. If you have questions concerning our class or your child, please do not hesitate to contact me at mnoll@hannahsenesh.org.

Math

Welcome back, Class of 2019!  I am so excited to be teaching your class this year.  We will spend a couple of days reviewing classroom procedures and expectations and then jump right into the math.

To help you excel with the challenges to come this year, it would be helpful if you would take a few minutes to set up a workspace.  Here are my guidelines for setting up a workspace.

  SUGGESTIONS FOR YOUR AT-HOME WORKSPACE

  • Your backpack, planner and pencil pouch should be within arm’s reach.
  • Put away all materials when finished.
  • Store your materials near your workspace. If you work in different locations, you may want to keep your materials in a tote bag.
  • It is great to have a pair of ear-plugs in your pencil pouch in case it gets noisy where you are working. You may also find that listening to instrumental music helps block out distractions.
MATH SUPPLIES TO HAVE AT HOME
  • Pencils
  • Sharpener
  • Ruler
  • Calculator
  • Eraser
  • Protractor
  • Clock, watch, or timer
  • Colored pencils
  • Stapler & staples
  • Loose-leaf hole-punched lined notebook paper

I’m looking forward to seeing you all soon!
