Hebrew

Dear parents,
The month of January is here! This is an exciting month, rich in emotional growth for our students. During this month, due to play rehearsals, the students will need to practice individual responsibility and accountability. The Hebrew learning is posted weekly on google classroom. The students must complete the assessments making sure they are following directions. Weather they missed a class for play rehearsal or not they are still responsible for the work.
In case of questions or difficulties, they must reach out to me via email and set up a meeting.
I wish you a good weekend,
Andreea

Heritage

Judaic Studies

One of the goals of our unit on the book of Joshua is to introduce 8th graders to the literary concept of intertextuality: the idea that a text’s meaning can be influenced by the way it relates to another text. (Spider-man: Into the Spider-Verse is a great example!). To that end, this week the 8th graders compared the story of the spies in the book of Yehoshua to the first few chapters of the book of Exodus, and were able to make some surprising discoveries. Rachav, the non-Israelite prostitute protagonist of our story in the book of Joshua, is paralleled to both the midwives who saved Hebrew babies from Pharoah and Moshe, our greatest leader ever. At the heart of the story of our entrance into Israel is a heroic act by a non-Hebrew, low status woman! Why? What is the author of the book of Joshua trying to teach us?

Musical

Rehearsals for Peter Pan have commenced! Please enjoy the photos of your students hard at work, bringing the magic of Neverland to life.
