Tuesday, May 7th: Blog from Libi and Meyer

Today’s bloggers are Libi and Meyer!

This morning at four am we woke up to a cold breeze in our tent. We quickly got ready and headed off to a challenging but fun hike up the Roman ramp of Masada. We quickly reached the top within 15 minutes. We were all tired, but excited to learn about this great historical place. We started with a special tefillah and after participated in a performance that taught about the history, made by our tour guide Orna and the teachers. After that we took a cable car down and had a quick picnic breakfast. We then headed off to the Dead Sea.

We spent some time there floating around in the water, playing in the mud, and swimming in a nearby sulfur pool and regular pool. We ate lunch at the buffet close to the beach and then got back on the bus and drove to Sh’fayim, the hotel near Tel Aviv where we’ll be staying for the next few nights. After we got settled and ate dinner, we attended a Yom HaZikaron tekes (Memorial Day ceremony) at Carroll School in Petach Tikvah. Hannah K and a student from Gottesman participated in the ceremony and we were all impressed by the meaningful and beautiful songs and dancing.
