Sigh … the end to 8th grade at Senesh!

Math

It’s the last week of school and the 8th graders are graduating this week. How exciting! They have worked hard this school year learning Algebra I and preparing for high school. 8th grade, whether you are taking advanced Algebra I or Geometry next year, I wish you the best in high school and I hope what you’ve learned helps next year. Congratulations, graduates! I hope you can visit next year!

Humanities

8th graders have finished their year strong by writing and rewriting their graduation speeches. I was really touched by the way they expressed themselves and reflected on their time here at Senesh.

Hebrew

Dear parents,

It is hard to believe, but we are nearing the last week of school! These past few weeks, the students were busy filming a mini autobiography in Hebrew. It is a nice project that helped them see what they are able to communicate in Hebrew. I am happy to share the link for the project here:
We are finishing the year with a short story ” Apples in the Desert” by Savion Librecht and a movie with the same name. We are using this to discuss the complexity of secular and religious Israeli communities and the relationships between them. Feel free to ask your child to tell you about them.

This has definitely been a  unique year and it brought new challenges but also unexpected rewards. Yet, as we are reaching the end, I can only feel proud of your children resilience and achievements. Despite learning in new ways, and facing social distancing,  the students still managed to keep the Hebrew language alive.  Whether it was by learning new songs online and recording themselves sing, writing skits and acting them in breakout rooms, making filmed autobiographies or putting on puppets plays, the children managed to speak Hebrew all year long.
And now, they are ready for a well deserved break.
I wish you a safe and relaxing summer, and look forward to hearing from everyone next year!

Science

In the final weeks of science this year, we conducted our final project. We explored the morality of science. Students selected a science concept that could morally be argued against. For example, cloning, nuclear weapons, or self-driving cars. Students decided if they were pro or con and presented the class their arguments.

We have explored so much science this year and I know these students will face high school with a strong sense of confidence. This has been an amazing year, and I so proud of all their achievements this year.

Good Luck Class of 2021
