Lag Ba’Omer, Hebrew Letter Party, and Chumash Ceremony

Lag Baomer

This year due to the rainy weather we had Lag Baomer indoors. We began our day with Tefila with our team color, lead by the older graders and learning catchy cheers for our team. We made team banners, played lots of collaborative games, ran relay races, and spent the sunny afternoon in the park. We even got to roast marshmallows over an open flame in the park since kids in Israel celebrate with bonfires. Second graders showed great sportsmanship throughout the day by congratulating other teams and encouraging each other.

Hebrew

We finished learning the whole Hebrew Aleph Bet in Script a few weeks ago. With all the busyness of preparing for the Chumash Play, we did not have time to celebrate till now. We celebrated by sharing our writing portfolios with one another. Students compared their writing pieces from the beginning of the year and end of year and measured their growth. We also had fun making letter crowns and forming words in Hebrew script with twizzlers!

Chumash Play

We were so proud of the second graders at the Chumash Play!

After the amazing performance, students had time to explore their new tanachim. Some students have chosen to keep them in school for the week so they can read them during Independent Reading time.
