Kindergarten Blog 5/28/21

Dear Families,

In Math, we have started learning about coins! So far, we have covered pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters. Students are beginning to learn about their values, how to add them together, and how we can use money to buy things. We also discussed how most countries have their own money, and had the chance to look at coins and bills from other places around the world, including Canada, Chile,  China, Europe, and Israel. Students also saw and compared some interesting US currency, including a 2 dollar bill, two different five dollar bills, and a variety of dollar coins.

In Social Studies, we put the finishing touches on our maps and hung them on the fence outside for family and friends to see. In Reading, we created vowel shields, and are using vowel power in reading and writing.

In Hebrew/Judaics, students are studying the five senses. They are creating crafts that explore each sense. We learned the parashat hashavua and did Kabbalat Shabbat.

Shabbat Shalom,

Talia, Dawn, Anat, and Atalya

Music with Heidi

In honor of Spring, Kindergarteners learned the song “Bonnie the Beautiful Butterfly” in Music. They have also just started a study of Vivaldi’s Spring Concerto (First Movement) from The Four Seasons. Students continue to build their rhythmic, melodic, music literacy and listening skills.
