First Grade News

Dear Families,

In math, we have been learning how to split shapes into equal parts! We are practicing using fraction words, such as one half, one quarter, and one fourth to describe the equal parts. Students learned how to fold paper shapes so that they are even. We decorated the shapes and labeled the fractions to show off our work.

In science, we showed how the Earth revolves around the sun using flashlights and a globe! Students took turns holding the flashlights and spinning the globe to recreate a year!

In Music class, First Graders read and had a discussion about the book “We Shall Overcome: The Story of a Song” by Debbie Levy. They learned about the history of that powerful song, how it changed over time and the lives it has touched. They also learned to sing the song in both English and Hebrew.
