HUMANITIES
7th graders have been working hard on drafting, editing, revising, and re-editing their literary analysis essays of the book, Chains. Students have embraced the writing process; they should be proud of the work they’ve put into their essays.
Students have also created graphics demonstrating their understanding of the Triangular Trade, the economic exchange of goods and people between continents during the time of the Atlantic Slave Trade. We are finishing the semester with analysis of the Salem Witch Trials, focusing on why and how they happened and how the events in seventeenth century Massachusetts relate to our lives today. Enjoy your break!

HEBREW

Dear parents,

These past few weeks, we have been hard at work practicing using vocabulary when discussing how we are feeling, various aches and remedies. We compared fold remedies to doctor’s advice and we practiced expressing what we must do to what we feel like doing.
We ended the unit with a skit that the students wrote and acted out in which a parent takes their child to see the doctor.
I wish everyone a wonderful and safe vacation,

Andreea

MATH

The 7th grade has been hard at work studying algebraic expressions, equations, and inequalities. This pre-Algebra unit is one of the most important math topics to build strong foundations for higher-level mathematics. The students started with constructing expressions, equations, and inequalities while learning about coefficients, constants, and variables. After that, they built on those skills by applying their knowledge to multi-step word problems. They learned how to write and solve equations and inequalities based on given situations, then translate their variable solutions to appropriate real-world answers. To close out the marking period, we’ll be reviewing these concepts through a series of math games. Enjoy the break and see you next year!

SCIENCE

Science has been working extremely hard to create our Shoebox Motion Machines. We have been flexible during schedule changes and the building process delays. Students are now finishing up these machines in order to showcase them on Monday, December 20 at 9 am. Check out the event email for showcase details. Everyone gained knowledge of simple machines and engineering techniques in order to successfully showcase their talents in completing this Shoebox machine project.
