Dear Kindergarten Families,

We are so excited that Liz is returning on Monday! This week’s writing was letters welcoming her back and telling her about what we have been learning since she was gone.

In math we continued our study of shapes, looking at the squares, triangles, rectangles, and circles that you can make when you trace the faces of cubes, rectangles, pyramids, and cylinders. Next week we will add hexagons to the shapes we are working with.

In social studies we read another book about being an older sibling, as we have several children who are awaiting the birth of a new brother or sister. We will be looking more at babies, and what they can and cannot do, in the weeks to come. With the return of Liz and Alex’s decision, we talked about the many different ways that babies are taken care of.

And of course today was Pajama Day. Each group started their time in the General Studies Room with a bedtime story (Ira Sleeps Over) and hot chocolate. Children had fun comparing pajamas, and the pajamas contributed to a bit of a more relaxed feeling day.

Next week we will see many of you for Parent Conferences. Some we will be seeing on March 25. All five kindergarten teachers (Liz, Dawn, Talia, Margaret, and Tal) will be there. We look forward to sharing the work and progress of your children with you. The schedule is tight, so please be on time and understand that each meeting is scheduled to be fifteen minutes.

It sounds like warmer weather is on its way, for which we are very grateful.

Sincerely,
Dawn and Talia
