Dear Kindergarten Families הורים יקרים,

We started learning about Pesach this week! First we made a chart of all the things we already know. It was a long list! Then we talked about the word seder/סדר and that it means order. The Pesach seder is a time when we follow the directions and tell the story of the Jewish people’s freedom from slavery while leaving Egypt. We’ve been practicing the four questions/מה נשתנה every day, asking why this night is different from all other nights. Yesterday we learned about the contents of a seder plate. We really love the book The Passover Seder by Emily Sper because it has many textures for us to feel and experience.

In addition to our regular curriculum, the children expressed interest in glassblowing after a classmate shared they were going to a glass/ceramics studio. During quiet choice this week one of our options was to watch some glassblowing demonstration videos. Check out the photo of our cozy viewing party below!

In Hebrew this week we continued exploring animals. We read שבעה עכברים עורים/Seven Blind Mice. In the story the mice encounter an object they don’t recognize and take turns guessing what it might be. At the end of the story they discover the mystery object was an elephant/פיל!

Shabbat shalom שבת שלום!
