Young Families Programming

Community Programming for Young Families

Parents, caregivers and children ages newborn to seven are invited to join us outdoors for our community programming and incorporates live performances, crafts, and activities!
  • Activities for children and their caregivers that engage with Jewish values and explore Shabbat and holiday rituals.
  • Rotating activities such as read-alouds, sing-a-longs, and developmentally-appropriate arts and crafts
  • Opportunities to meet your neighbors and make connections!

Families with children ages 2 through 8 years old are invited to celebrate Sigd with
Hannah Senesh Community Day School and Be’chol Lashon. Together we’ll learn
about this special Ethiopian holiday that celebrates Torah, Israel, and community
with Ethiopian music, dance, food, story, and other traditions! Learn more about Sigd
ahead of our event with resources from our partner.

  • Prepare dough for dabo, a traditional Ethopian bread eaten on Shabbat. Families can take their dough home to bake.
  • Beading with the colors of Ethiopia—red, yellow, and green.
  • Learn about traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremonies and create a coffee bean collage.
  • Traditional Ethiopian stories, music, and dancing.

We’ll sing songs, mix colors and learn about the colors in Hebrew, English, and any other language your family might speak, followed by an opportunity to make your own sculpture to take home. Then, at 11:15am, join us for a dance party filled with colorful streamers, a parachute, and the best dance moves in Brooklyn.
