First Grade News

We were so excited to welcome everyone back after the break. First graders transitioned seamlessly into new groups. This week we reviewed rules and routines, learned more about one another, and dove right back into our curriculum!   We took the opportunity of a new calendar year to revisit the hopes and dreams we made at the start of the year. In the spirit of making New Year’s resolutions, we all made new goals for the rest of the year.   We read the book “The Most Magnificent Thing” by Ashley Spires. It’s about a girl who has a vision...

January 4 — a shehecheyanu to 2019

Welcome back, everyone! What a week of change! First with the start of a new year. Then, more importantly, with the mixing of half groups. Third Graders rose to the occasion, and have smoothly transitioned into their new half groups. While we enjoyed our week from school, we definitely missed each and every one of the members in our third grade community! As community builders, each half group participated in two separate activities to strengthen our bonds — one by showing how each individual comes together to create a whole, and the other is how communication can help us to achieve...

A Great Start to 2019!

Community Building We had a wonderful return back to school including introducing new learning groups. Students were empowered to be a part of the selection process as they had the opportunity to vote for our new groups names. The winner of the class vote was: Cherries and Apples- דובדבנים אדומים ותפוחים ירוקים Ask your child what their new group name is! We were impressed with the silent cheers when the winning group names were announced and by the discussion that followed. Evia told us that switching groups is a good chance to make new friends. Josh reminded the class that...

Dear Kindergarten parents הורים יקרים, We are so excited to welcome your children back to school this week after a relaxing winter break. We learned the word איפה, where, to help talk about the places we went. The Shinshinim came to visit our classroom yesterday! They helped us with our next unit, parts of the body. We practiced identifying our heads, noses, hands, and legs. Then we traced...
