Hello Families, In Hebrew, we spent time learning about clothing and what we wear. We learned the verbs lovesh (to wear, masculine) and loveshet (to wear, feminine). We also learned how to write the letters chaf, kaf, final chaf, pey and fey in script. In Yahadut, we started to learn about Purim. We read the story of Purim and got to look at a very small megilah that belongs to the first grade. Hello Families,   In Hebrew, we learned how to use the question words mah? (what) and mi? (who) in our writing and speaking. We practiced how to ask questions and answer them using those words. We also learned how to write the letters hey and kuf in script.   In Tefila this week, we learned two new prayers from the Amidah. The first prayer is matzmiach keren yeshuah. Hello Families, In Hebrew, we celebrated our accomplishments – finishing learning the Hebrew alef-bet and our nitzanim workbooks. I encourage you to look through your child’s workbook to see the amazing work that he/she has done! The first graders were also very excited to get a certificate for learning all of the Hebrew letters. We also learned how to write the letters resh, bet and vet in script. Hello Families, In Hebrew, we continued to work on our word dictionary. We also started learning about Tu Bishvat (the birthday of the trees) and spent time learning Hebrew words related to the holiday. We started to practice changing words from singular to plural tense using different parts of trees. Hello Families, In Hebrew, we learned the letter ayin and we now know all of the letters of the Hebrew aleph-bet! Our first graders are Hebrew experts! This is a very exciting accomplishment, and we look forward to celebrating as a class community next week. We read and wrote lots of words this week. We added lots of words to our word wall like: geshem (rain), gesher (bridge), ginah (garden), gezer (carrots), garbyim (socks), gamal (camel), zayit (olive) and zebra. Hello Families, In Hebrew, we learned the letter tet and added words to our word wall like: tabach (chef), tabaat (ring), telefon (phone) and tractor (tractor). We continued to practice our reading and wrote sentences using the action words tas (to fly for a boy) and tasa (to fly for a girl). Hello Families, In the Hebrew classroom this week, we learned the letters kaf and chaf as well as a new vowel, which makes the “Oo” sound. We added lots of words to our word wall like: kochav (star), kefafot (glaves), keter (crown), kelev (dog) and kova (hat). We wrote lots of sentences using the verbs ochel/ochelet (to eat) and ohev/ohevet (to love). We also spent time learning about Chanukah!
