Dear Kindergarten Families, It was another busy week in Kindergarten. Our butterflies emerged from their chrysalises, we have almost finished our last stories, and we started our map of Smith Street. On Friday, we had our final whole Lower School Kabbalat Shabbat and end of year Tekes, in which we sang two songs to the lower school: Parpar (a Hebrew song about butterflies, and Are You Living? (a Science song about living things). We came in on Monday morning to a cage full of butterflies! The Kindergartners spent time carefully sketching the new butterflies, recording data on their behavior, and...

Hello Families, We celebrated how much we have learned this year with the Siddur Ceremony! It was such a special event! We were so proud of all the first graders and what an amazing job they did! In the Hebrew classroom, we learned about Shavuot! On Shavuot we are celebrating the time that we received the Torah. We spoke about how the Torah has rules (The Ten Commandments) that keep us safe just like rules we have at home and school. We read a story in Hebrew about why God chose Mount Sinai for the Jewish people to receive the Torah. We also started...

May continues to be a busy month with play rehearsals happening every day! We finally made it to the “big stage” and began practicing as a whole grade. It is sure to be a crowd pleaser! We began our last unit of writing, a personal narrative. Students were asked to think back to the beginning of the year and their first writing piece! Some remembered what they wrote about, and some needed a reminder! But the skills they learned remained as we made a list of what should be included in a personal narrative. Things like the 5 senses, similes...

Hello Families, We have been very busy practicing and preparing for our Siddur ceremony the last few weeks! In math, we have learned the value of coins and practiced counting money. When counting a group of coins, we learned to sort, start with the biggest ones, trust them in different patterns, and make groups (of 5s, 10s, 100s, etc.). We learned the value of pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters and practiced exchanging money using various combinations of coins. Our challenge next week will be to count a big bag of coins together by making a plan, being efficient, and checking...
