August 30 — The first day is just around the corner!

Dear Third Grade Families,

We hope you had a wonderful summer! Welcome to an exciting year of learning in third grade!

The first day of school is fast approaching and we are busy preparing the classrooms. This year, the third grade team includes both new and returning teachers. General studies teacher, Hilary Davis, Hebrew teacher Ilana Swisa and Judaics Studies teacher Aliza Donath are excited to continue their work in third grade, working together to create our third grade community. New to the staff is Margaret Piraino (Aliza’s maternity leave replacement), who is thrilled to be joining the Senesh community.

The team’s email addresses are:

We are responsible for the dismissal of your children and will be maintaining the bus and dismissal lists for your child’s class. Please send all communication regarding dismissal, bus and pick-up, directly to Hilary Davis and Ilana Swisa the day before. For last-minute and urgent changes, please send communication by 12:00 pm on the day of in order to receive a confirmation email from the teachers. Teachers will be checking email at this time and creating the day’s final dismissal list. We appreciate your mindfulness, as we are not always on email throughout the day. Thank you for your help and partnership.

Items to make sure your child packs each day (or some can stay in the locker throughout the week):

  • Water Bottle — to keep hydrated throughout the day (especially on days with PE), as well as to drink from during Lunch
  • Sweater/Sweatshirt — it can become quite chilly in Room 115, so we recommend having a second layer for your student

We would love to find out more about your child before we begin the school year. Please take a moment and send an email to the third grade team answering some or all of the questions below:

  1. What are 3 – 5 words you would use to describe your child?
  2. How did your child spend the summer?
  3. What is one goal you have for your child in third grade, be it academic or social?
  4. How does your child get home in the afternoon? (ie: bus, late room, after school, pick up)
  5. Is there anything else you’d like to share about your child?

Events Coming Up:

  • Back to School Night on Thursday, September 13

Thank you for your help and partnership. We are looking forward to the first day of school!

All the best,

The Third Grade Team
