This full-time position will work directly with students in kindergarten through fourth grade, to support, supplement and extend classroom teaching. This direct student intervention will be across all subjects but with particular attention to math and language arts. The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field, several years of teaching or specialist experience at the lower school level, training in Orton Gillingham or other related reading programs, facility with educational technology and strong knowledge base in the area of learning differences. The Learning Support Educator is responsible for the assessment, monitoring and differentiation of student instruction and learning. Collaborating with lower school director and grade level teachers the LS educator identifies individual students and determines optimal strategies for maximizing each student’s growth. LS reports directly to the Lower School Director.
Hannah Senesh Community Day School is hiring a full time Lower School Counselor to support and guide our students with their social and emotional development and to be successful in the classroom learning community. The counselor is a part of a collaborative student support team with a high level of communication and collegiality. The position includes observing students within the classroom setting and providing support to faculty, facilitating small group and individual student meetings, communicating with parents and outside support providers, participation in the admissions process; and acting as liaison between the school and outside professional support related to social and emotional support.
