3rd Grade 9/13

We had a great first week of school, even if it was a short one!

The students got to know each other by playing games and sharing about their summer. We also began exploring the Senesh motto: Take care of Ourselves and Take Care of Others. The students came up with examples for each such as “Be respectful and kind”, “Make good decisions”, and “Don’t be mad at yourself.”

In Writing, the students used their summer artifacts as a springboard to write about their summer. Some wrote about camp or places they visited. In Reading, the students explored the classroom library, getting to know the different genres in our classroom and finding books that they’re interested in. They also completed a reading survey so we can start getting to know ourselves as readers. In Social Studies we focused on our classroom community, using that time to get to know each other and begin conversations about our identity.

Dear families,

We are excited to be back. In the first few days we got to know each other and started to build our classroom community and set expectations for the year.

In Hebrew we reinforced writing in cursive and correct decoding. We reviewed numbers and had a discussion about birthdays. We watched a short video and talked about similarities and differences in how birthdays are celebrated in Israel and America. After a short review we are ready to jump to the new unit.
