Humanities  In English/Language Arts, students have been reading Beowulf: A New Telling and exploring how the author uses symbolism and imagery in the text. In social studies, we are concluding a chapter about early African civilizations (500-1500). After gaining a sense of world events in the period after the fall of Rome, we’ll transition to the medieval period of European history. First Grade News

We were so excited to welcome everyone back after the break. First graders transitioned seamlessly into new groups. This week we reviewed rules and routines, learned more about one another, and dove right back into our curriculum!   We took the opportunity of a new calendar year to revisit the hopes and dreams we made at the start of the year. Welcome back, everyone! What a week of change! First with the start of a new year.Then, more importantly, with the mixing of half groups. A Great Start to 2019!

Community Building We had a wonderful return back to school including introducing new learning groups. Students were empowered to be a part of the selection process as they had the opportunity to vote for our new groups names. The winner of the class vote was: Cherries and Apples- דובדבנים אדומים ותפוחים ירוקים Ask your child what their new group name is! Kindergarten General Studies

Hello Kindergarten Families! We have had a wonderful three days getting reacquainted with each other and with our routines. The new groups are working out well and children are having the opportunity to get to know each other a bit better. Hello Fourth Grade Families

General Studies with Mike: Happy New Year! We began the second semester with new student groupings and new seats within the classroom. Students are enjoying the opportunity to work with new partners and groups. Shortly before Winter Break, we completed our math unit on whole number multiplication and division. 6th Grade News: Happy New Year Edition

MATH:  Hello everyone, I am Katie, the new 5th and 6th grade math teacher! The first few days back at school have been great; everyone has been so kind and welcoming. I am excited to jump right into learning about percents with the 6th grade!
