6th Grade News: 5/29-6/1/18
HUMANITIES In History class this week, students focused on preparing for and taking the ancient Greece test. While studying together, we reviewed forms of government, geographical features, historical landmarks, and cultural practices. The students revealed how much they now know about ancient Greece, and, perhaps more importantly, they were able to point out several ways that ancient Greek history continues to influence our lives today. 5th Grade Week of 5/29
What a week! We are winding down the year in style, and finishing up our final units and projects. Please enjoy our classroom updates below, and have a good weekend! May 29 – June 1
Science This week in science we are finishing the building of our custom solar cars. Students have been comparing their design with other groups. They have naturally tested the function of their cars in direct sunlight and went back to improve on their design so the car can move in a straight line. Next week we will be testing these cars for maximum velocity and how straight they can travel using the power of the sun. Exciting times with our final weeks in science. Last Class with Shinshinim
Israel We made shoko b’sakit for our last class with the Shinshinim and shared memories of all the fun times we had “travelling” through Israel. We also practiced the dance for the upcoming Israel Parade. We have learned so much with Yuval and Yaheli and are so grateful to them. Math This week we used many objects around the room to learn our 3 and 4 times tables. We counted our lockers in groups of 4 and practiced using our fingers. June 1 – Our Journey Through Ellis Island

First Grade News
June 8th is Spirit Day! Students are invited to wear orange and white to school. This week in First Grade we went on a field trip to the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. We learned all about flowering plants and planted our own geraniums to take home! In Social Studies, we made reusable bags out of old tshirts. First graders will use these bags at our Shuk next week. Planning our last weeks of Kindergarten!
Dear Kindergarten Families, We had a fun week in Kindergarten! We could not go to the new park on Thursday because of the rain, but we promised our children that we will go there next week. We are also very excited for our field trip to the Prospect Park Zoo on Tuesday! For the next two weeks, our kindergartners will plan their own schedule (led by their teachers, of course).
