Math 7X this week found areas of parallelograms and trapezoids, and solved problems involving perimeters and areas of composite plane figures. The unit test (also a due date for extra credit) is currently scheduled for Tuesday, April 24th. 7Y finished learning the materials on Unit 13: Volumes and Surface Areas of Solids, and are working on their unit project, making a mobile of solids.   Dear Third Grade Families, Spring is starting to come, as the weather gets warmer. We want to thank everyone for their patience in re-rescheduling our Brooklyn Bridge trip. HUMANITIES This week in History class, we focused on the ancient Greek agora, or outdoor marketplaces. The agoras of ancient Greece were a sort of combination of today’s farmer’s markets, universities, and downtown areas. Students imagined and acted out what it might have been like for politicians, scientists, shoppers, and philosophers to come together in one central area in order to conduct business and discuss ideas. Fractions and Yom Ha’atzmaut

Yom Ha’atzmaut Second graders celebrated with the rest of the school with many special activities. Our morning started with a school wide takes led by the fifth graders, followed by an Israeli snack. Next, we turned our classrooms into the Dead Sea and Eilat! Students got creative, making the entrance to the Dead Sea into a cave and creating a salty Dead Sea. Transforming the Hebrew room to Eilat! 5th Grade Week of 4/16

What a week! We celebrated Yom Haatzmaut on Thursday. We and our 4th grade friends turned our classrooms into Israeli cities, ancient and modern. The 5th Grade also did an exceptional job performing a play for our whole school tekes on the last 70 years of Israel’s history. First Grade News

This week in first grade we learned numbers up to 120, reviewed place value, and practiced estimating. In Writing Workshop, students got their realistic fiction stories ready to be published! We will celebrate their stories at a mini publishing party next week.   Next week on Arbor Day, April 27th, first graders will welcome the new tree outside our building! As part of our social action, we take care of the trees outside our school. Yom Ha’atzmaut Week

Hello Fourth Grade Families! What an amazing week at school! Fourth graders got to experience Yom HaZikaron (Israeli Memorial Day) and Yom Ha’atzmaut (Israeli Independence Day), with a little extra celebration for Israel’s 70th anniversary! Right now the whole grade is busy preparing for Oregon Trail Day next Friday. We are looking for parent volunteers to help with food preparation in the days leading up to our event. Yom Haatzmaut, Earth Day and more!

Dear Kindergarten Families, We had lots of fun this week in Kindergarten! The children were very excited to celebrate Yom Haatzmaut, Israel’s Independence Day! During the week, we learned many things about Israel: its cities, seas, history and more. We read a book “Our Jewish Dream” written by Helena Solomon and illustrated by Regina Katz.
