Welcome from the Head of School

The Hannah Senesh Community Day School is an exceptional co-educational K-8 community of learners. Our unique program offers students and their families a strong tradition of academic excellence, along with a welcoming and inclusive environment of religious and cultural integration. Community is not just a part of our name- it is truly central to our identity. Our students are drawn from a diversity of Jewish backgrounds, and our community includes many varied voices and perspectives. What unites us all is a commitment to raising lifelong learners, motivated by passion and creativity, dedicated to building connections, and inspired by kindness and respect. Hannah Senesh students embody the values of a rich Jewish tradition while embracing the promise and possibility of the modern world.

At the core of our school is the talented staff we are all so fortunate to have. Individually, each is an inspired teacher and collectively they are a collaborative community of educators. At Hannah Senesh we encourage our students to strive for a standard of academic excellence. I walk down the hallways and see a school community committed to creating an environment in which students can grow to their fullest potential as responsible and dedicated members of the Jewish people, active participants in American society, and responsible citizens of the world. Our students are inspired by an academic program of general and Judaic studies which emphasizes critical, independent, and creative thinking and expression.  In classrooms throughout the school, students develop a personal Jewish identity informed by Jewish values, texts, and culture, which will last them during their years at Senesh and beyond. Our graduates have found success at the best public and independent high schools in New York City and beyond, and are continuing on to make their mark at many exciting colleges and universities.

During my 13 year tenure, I have had the opportunity to serve the school in many capacities, growing and leading the school through many stages. The opportunity to lead and grow the school as a teacher, curriculum coordinator, and Assistant Head of School has made me more committed to the ideals of Hannah Senesh and more convinced of the importance of the mission and vision of our school.

In our new state of the art facility we now have the physical space to grow in ways that were not previously possible. Dedicated spaces for technology, science, art, music, physical activity, and prayer, have made our already-strong programs even stronger.

So today, as I step into my new role as Hannah Senesh Head of School, I look forward to the exciting journey that lies ahead. I welcome the opportunity to partner with students, parents and faculty, and together we can establish Hannah Senesh as a vibrant educational center in our community.
