The Singapore Primary Mathematics program places problem solving at the center of its mathematical framework. A thoughtfully-paced, more in-depth structure focuses on essential math skills that ultimately results in more rapid progress and deeper understanding of key concepts. The consistent use of a pictorial bar or strip model provides a unifying pedagogical structure that enables students to think symbolically. Multi-step problems encourage students to use a range of skills and concepts to arrive at their solutions. Practice problems present skills step-by-step; simple and direct explanations challenge students to think. Our students and teachers have found this program to be critical to developing a strong mathematical sense. It is not surprising to see why students in Singapore have consistently scored first in the world in mathematics proficiency. Now, Hannah Senesh students are gaining the skills necessary for success on a global level.
